Do you believe in yourself enough to start?

I hope that question made you take pause.

Sometimes we need to stop and analyse why we make the decisions we make and why we do (or don't) take the actions we know we should take.

As a coach, I see the cost of inaction every day.

It's honestly the most challenging part about being a coach. I want so much to help and yet it's impossibe to help those who won't help themselves - who won't believe in themselves enough to make a start. Or who think the excuses they give themselves are the REAL reason they haven't started yet.

It's not. It's fear. Either fear of failure, or fear of success. Mostly, it's fear of CHANGE, one way or the other.

As human beings, we don't like change. It's natural for us to resist it. Our subconscious is doing its job trying to keep us safe. It's telling us not to cross that bridge. Not to even put a toe on it to test its stability.

On this side of the bridge is familiarity - even if it sucks. Hey, it's better the devil you know.

On the other side of that bridge is everything you want. The life you dreamed of, the freedom to plan your day your way, the power to live your life for YOU not someone else.

And yet, you're not taking the steps needed to cross that bridge.

You are living someone else's dream right now. You are settling for good enough. Or you've convinced yourself a long time back that you are not good enough for that life. Who are you to even dream of it?

Somewhere along the way, you built barriers to keep you safe. But you weren't born that way. As a child, you knew no fear. Everything was possible. Your dreams were big.

But the only thing that changed was you. You see, everything is still possible. You can do it. And you do deserve it.

It's time to stop with the excuses ...

I'm not good enough.

I'm scared of what my friends will think.

I don't have the money to start a business right now.

I don't have time.

I don't know where to start.

Woah! Let's stop the negative talk. What you focus on will be your reality.

That's not the reality you want, right?

So let's look at some home truths for a minute.

You ARE good enough. You start where you are at now. That's all you can do. That's all ANYONE can do. Those successful people out there? They all started where they were at. But they made a start and then they just didn't stop moving forward.

Who cares what your friends think! Firstly, this is your life you are planning, not theirs. Secondly, if they put you down or try to stop you, they aren't your friend. You'll find out when you start making positive changes in your life who your friends are. And your real friends? They'll support you. So don't be concerned about what anyone else thinks. They aren't going to be living your life or paying your bills.

Speaking of bills, what makes you think you don't have the money to start a business? It's never been easier or cheaper to start a business than today. There's virtually no barrier to entry in setting up a business online. And every cent you put into building your business is an INVESTMENT in YOU and YOUR FUTURE. Do you truly have such little self-worth that you would refuse that for yourself?

It's time to change the statement from "I can't afford this" to "How can I afford this?" Because where there is a will, there is a way. How badly do you want it? Because if you make this a priority for now, you will succeed. But you've got to bet on yourself for a change.

And don't tell me you don't have time. That really pushes my buttons. It's like you're telling me you've got some special time arrangements where you've been given a different amount of time in your day than the rest of us. But that's simply not true, is it? We all have the same 24 hours in a day. How can you MAKE THAT TIME COUNT? Because I promise you, if I sit down with you and I help you plan your next week, I'm going to find AT LEAST 10 hours where you could be building your business. If you aren't doing that, what you are really telling me is not that you don't have the time, but you haven't made creating your ideal life a priority.

So stop with the not having time excuse (and it is an excuse). You do have time. In fact, let me flip this around a bit. With the time you have left in your life, can you afford not to find the time?

Or is not starting a business when you had the chance going to be one of your life's regrets when you come to summing up your life?

You don't know where to start. Then ask someone who's done what you want to do. It's that simple. Everything in life is difficult before it becomes easy. Babies don't suddenly get up and start walking. They try and fail and try and fail until one day they can do it and with practice they come to be able to do it without thinking. Of course starting a business is scary right now. You've never done it before!

But that doesn't mean you can't.

If you start now, a few years down the line, you'll look back and wonder why you waited so long.

As they say, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

So are you ready to plant that tree?

Isn't it time to bet on yourself a little. Because if you don't, no one else is going to either.

You see, I KNOW if you take action, you are going to have a breakthrough. I KNOW if you don't take action, then nothing will change.

The ball's in your court.
